The father and son duo did not let us down and organised a perfect night from their newly furbished car servicing location. 30 of us were there and we enjoyed a well set run and walk, excellent food and an ideal venue for the circle.
Phantom took his customary position as team leader and the walk was without incident. The runners completed their run in 50 minutes for a distance of around 5 kms.The circle commenced with Phantom letting us know that Birdman’s beloved wife Pam had passed away earlier in the day. Sir Knob then called for a minute’s silence for her. Birdie, our thoughts are with you and your family and we will give you all the support you need to assist you in getting you through this sad time.Phantom also let us know that a past member, Cocktail, had also passed away. He was a member during the early 2000’s and got his name because he had the shakes from Parkinson’s – a bit of hash humour.
Sir Knob as stand in On Sec led the circle and had Gnocchi, Reluctant, Gumby, Rumpole and Horse up as returnees, then Grizzly for getting a cup awarded to him at last weeks Close to Your Heart Run (ask Griz for details) and Pembo for going home early at the same run and not joining other GM’s in singing the club song.
Dick Tracy then presented his entertaining circle and had Phantom up for him creating total confusion on arranging a venue for wake drinks after Can’s funeral then presented The Griz with some AFL players cards of past Crows players which he said were very valuable. Griz is still coming to grips with having to accept that a premiership cup alluded the Crows after a very successful year. Haggis gave a critique of the run and Dickie of the walk – once we got through the factory area and over the freeway we went into the suburb of Stirling with very impressive houses and parks and gardens.
Dickie had a new scoring system and awarded the run 7.2 out of a possible 8 (which according to my calculations equates to 9 on the old system).
Lasagna put on cheese and biscuits, magnificent olives and fresh bread dipped in balsamic vinegar and the meal was cold meat in a bun with onion, tomato, lettuce, cheese and beetroot – an epicurean delight.
Our thanks to Lasagna and Gnocchi for a great night and to The Griz for attending to wagon duties.
