2397 RUSTY and his run of year (2016)

RUSTY and XYZ at SKIPPYs ghost house

Skippy was away so the mice could play .Rusty and XYZ put on a great run .It weaved across deserted and dry paddocks ,in some fairly dusty terrain with the promise of Kangaroo ticks .

It was cunningly set so that the Wanker walkers could easily maintain contact ,until we all converged on the drinkstop. After that it was close to home and all back within 50 mins.

It was now that the Rust Bucket brought his catering skills to the fore as cheese and bickies followed by tasty chicken drummettes appeared

The Circle was going well time wise (thanks to JAAPIE  )until NANNY took over.I expect he will be on ice every week until the AGM after he put our GM on ice  -Courage!!

Hamersley then got carried away as usual with Bullshit charges and kept putting on bloke on ice –it was a warm night

Rusty’s food skills continued with copious quantities of beef curry ,polenta and Veges  .A job well done deserving 9 for run and 9 for food

Well done Rusty and XYZ

2395 STINKY and FRIENDS Who needs ’em .

2395 STINKY with very little guidance from his Friends

A craftily planned 10 minute search for trail just 100m into the run allowed the eager bunch to digress from the upcoming yule tide festivities and reflect on the historic surroundings of Inglewood (Hmeans Mt Lawley ed.). Inglewood was first established during the gold rush period in the latter part of the 19th century and was rumoured to have been named after Norwegian ship – perhaps the reason that the early parts of the run seemed to have been designed to be as confusing as the Scandinavian languages. At this particular point in the run it was established that we at least had a map – but that the map may have been an outline of Timbuktu in the 1940s rather than of the run set in Inglewood.

Now last week there was a train derailment on the key east west transport link, which may have been the reason for the shortage of chalk in Perth this week, but no matter our trusty hare made sure that his single available stick was enough to mark out the entire run. This was successfully achieved by ensuring that there were arrows only every 400m or so, and that false trails and checks were cleverly minimised. The extra-long stretches on the run were most appreciated given it was the first really warm run of summer. And so the pack went up and down the modest hills amongst the well-trimmed federation style homes, and through the back alleys to highlight the darker side of this suburb of professionals. For the second time this year Boner was accosted for playing with his horn in the street – will he ever learn!!

Then just as the weary and overheated pack were swearing about not having a drink stop, we found ourselves back at the bucket after just 35 minutes. Onto the circle, once again Seagull showed us how bring a rowdy audience into line, issuing down downs to our welcome visitors Chris, Angel and his Son and Phranger from West Coast Hash. We then again had to listen to Triple J rant on about something or other (apparently he want’s subs increased by 20% next year??). Then it was time for Christmas – no the circle didn’t go for that long – I’m referring to our esteemed member who somehow worked out that his “talent” was balancing a cup of splash on his unusually flat head. None the less this is certainly a talent which received acclaim amongst the pack scoring a well-deserved 54.

Nanny then stepped up to delicately critic the run – accordingly it was the experienced hash men in Ernie Dingo, Phantom and Christmas on whom the shame and scorn was accorded for not adequately assisting the well intentioned, but somewhat inexperienced hare. I can’t remember the score but to be fair I’m not sure it’s going to threaten the leaders for run of the year – regardless it’s always appreciated when an effort is made to entertain the finicky bunch.

The night was ended with steaming bowls of tasty pumpkin soup (perfect for a 40 degree night), followed by what, in the dim lights of the sports club, looked suspiciously like Bondi cigars, but which were tasty enough to warrant seconds. Good effort Stinky Alice.

2394 MK1 and NIGHT of DOGS

Xmas’s Run Write Up entitled A Dog’s Night Out.
Started the run at the farm, run through a vegie patch then around the lake. What do you have on a farm?  DOGS!
I decided to try something different  (running).  Made it around the lake until we caught the Walkers.    At least I kept up with Elbows and Scummy.  After joining the walkers at the usual brisk pace, with a choice of conversations i.e. Mining, Shares, Real Estate, Bullshit and Rumours, you also get to see more of the country side  for instance a beautiful Jack Russell, (a dog that is, not JR) accompanied by a slightly overweight lady.  Great to see our canine friends helping the obesity problems in our city.
With our intrepid leader Phantom returning us safely back to the Circle.  That’s what he does, not like the runners.
At the circle we heard Skid tripped over a dog.  He was probably perving on the fat Sheila  with the Jack Russell.  “and Sir Nob” getting in rather late to the Circle.  Rumour has it, catching up with his old constitutes.  Probably someone out walking their dog.  Anyway the Circle with Seagull with usual Hash Dribble, the highlights being the Hash Jokes which always evokes a lot of conversations.  Half the mob telling the other half what it was all about!
Then we got Hash Talent,  Grandad who proceeded to enlighten  us on Dog Poo, Forty Foot Tape Worms, and Egg Laying Dogs.
We were curious why he had a plate hanging off his neck, contrary to his explanation, last week he missed out on a plate, so he used the dog’s dish.
THis was followed by MUMBLES version ??? of the Haka    (scored 2 points)
Which brings me to the Hash Feed.  When Seagull called out the Hares for the obligatory comments for the Run and the Tucker, they were nowhere to be seen.Apparently the Circle was too long for them and was past heir bedtime!!!!  Rumour has it the hungry pack may have mistaken those huge  beans for Dogs Eggs!
Once again a top night.
By the way, my next Run will be from the Shenton Park Dog’s Home.  You can bring your own dog or they can lend you one.
On On Xmas,  AKA “Dogless”
P.S. I will however have a dog with me on next weeks Run.  Horse is down from Carnarvon on his Xmas Break.

2393 RELUCTANT

Run No.2393 Lake Claremont

Hares: Reluctant assisted by Phantom   (who claims all care and no resposibility)

About 40 Hashmen  including  20 walkers assembled in the carpark adjacent to Claremont golf club. A good location.

At the nominated hour -1800- the runners set off for what turned out to be about a 50minute jog. I have no idea what the run was like (I was –am still- a walker. The walk was fine, interdispersed  with some pleasant cuts through bush. Amazingly the walkers arrived back at the bucket before the runners. Obviously training for the aged pays off.

Some said the FT's on the run were a bit short and the run allowed some short cutting but all seemed to enjoy

The obligatory (not oblong) circle was formed and the announcements presented by Hon. Sec. We were then subjected to a 37 minute (yes it was timed) rant  about ??? well actually nothing except the naming of a new young NON drinking member SCB , named due to his SCB efforts on the night

. A good lamb stew followed which was well received by the hungry pack. Well done Hares.

2392 RAMROD and Scottish friends do ST ANDREW

RAMROD and Co,   St Andrews Run

Run started with Phantom reminding me about being organized for my run. West Coast dirty dozen joined us for this Commemoration of our friend SCOTTIE

The run weaved thru parks , schools (some for the retarded which would suit some of our members), bush, lanes and streets .Well set with lots of FT’s  and many trails quite close to each other . Great use of territory lots of hills for the old blokes to go up and down. Heard many knees making funny noises! Several hashman reminded me to be organized for my run as Phantom would give me shit.

The pack was stretched at times but most came in 45- 50 mins. Reminded again to be organized for my run.

The circle suited BIRDMAN  -it was short and sweet with no penalty downs and the BELL was NOT awarded. Nanny was confused !

BAREFOOT piped in the Haggis and CRIPPLE J UNdressed it with a little help from the resident HAGGIS .

SCOTTIE , if he is UP THERE would have approved.

The Haggis food was avoided by a few wimps and it was followed by a Chilli Bean salad

and large boiled Potato. Reminded by a few people to be organised for my run as Phantom was watching.

Top night and great effort from RAMROD , SIR TOMARSE and SCUMMY

2391 JACK RUSSELL and Nanny

#2391   Jack Russell and Nanny at Britannia Road Reserve

Good location used many times before.  Plenty of parking, light and the weather was like Goldilocks porridge – not too hot, not too cold, just right.

The Run:

Shape on the map looked ok.  Loop, then over the freeway and down between Lake Monger and the freeway dodging rush hour cyclists. Then meandering through Leederville and back over the freeway.  Up the side of the freeway and then another loop however many runners would have been tempted to short cut home through the park. Main complaints were the usual – not enough false trails.  THr run got extra points as FT was the last of the runners to come in.

Bushie, Almost and Lasagna did come in considerably later as they were drinking at J B O’Reilly’s.

The Circle:

Started with a chorus of “12 weeks to go!”

Visitors were John, Jack, Michael, Angel, Phranger (#2) and Cods.

Returnees were G String, Almost, Ringburner, Cans & Ramrod? Seagull must have missed me as I was only away for one week.

Xmas got a down down for being on the phone (he actually knows how to use it at last) and for Patricia emailing Seagull to find out which days he goes to hash – has he been playing up?

Jaapie put on a birthday carton – he must look old as Seagull confused him with Top Hat who is recovering in hospital.

Haggis for being the first to pay his subs for next year – must have been a discount for paying early.

Antman for not knowing if he was coming or going

Hash Got Talent:  Action read a poem by his father entitled The Frog in the Bog to an appreciative audience who actually listened quietly – that is a Hash first.  Deserves a prize for that.

R.A.  Nanny called on Plecat for marriage guidance (Why? Obviously I can’t read my notes)  The missing bell turned up from Almost who had been trying to sell it (unsuccessfully).  Tried to present it to Rumpole who got wounded in action however he won’t be around for the next feww weeks.  Called out the 2 Phrangers but decided they looked used.  So awarded it to Jack Russell.  The run got a 9.75 probably to him being the co-hare.

Food was hamburgers with trimmings.  Thought they tasted fine.

Best thing was hardly any plated for me to wash.

All in all a great night.

2390 PH RANGER and SHYLOCK at the Station

Last Week's Run

It was a good location selected by PHRANGER and SHERLOCK for their run in Mount Lawley, there was plenty of parking even if it was a PTA car park and the security came to break the party up at the end! The lights came on just as it got dark and the weather was fantastic, so no shelter required. The trail kept the pack reasonably well together with some good use of false trails and checks. About 7.5km (as determined by the Seagull-o-meter) for those that did the whole thing, a few less for the short-cutters. BONER got back to the bucket and said he enjoyed the run but he said it wasn't for him to score it, he would let the masses decide. So the greatest 'masses' present; DICK TRACEY, PHANTOM and FAGS came up with a resounding 7.8
Without a NANNY (ironic since we were at a child care center) the circle commenced with a minute's silence to remember those who had lost their lives in the recent Paris terrorist attacks. Whilst I still had a little quiet from the crowd, CONMAN gave us an update on TOPHAT's condition. The silence didn't remain but numerous down-downs were handed out including; our visitor Mike for walking into the Hon-Sec, TRIPLE-J with his new shirt, this time with spelled correctly, ANTMAN and DEEPLY BORING for dog misdemeanors involving urine, the Hon-Secs car and the bucket, BIRDMAN for not getting any attention from his wife because she has spent 1000 hours painting birds and RIMMER for leaving his hat at the Curry Lunch. Those who went to Rotto kept rather quiet about the events of the weekend, although someone had seemingly moved TRIPLE J's cabin and BONER won the golf as it seems he would rather spend a day on the golf course with a Hammersley Hasher than a night with his wife on their wedding anniversary!
The evening wrapped up with very tasty boerewors with salad in rolls.
A great night, thanks guys!

Run 2388  DEEPLY BORING

Is a run in Swanbourne around the SAS village deeply boring because nobody got shot or even arrested?

Apparently not.

Coz I’m not a runna (or even a walka on the night) I gotta rely on my spies for the down lows.

They reckon it woz alrite. Plenny of chalk, plenny of mistrails and not 2 bloody far.

Musta been OK coz nilly everybody come back from the rite direction and not 2 far apart.

The venue woz good but more fuckin dogs than at a convention for fat birds.

Nanny give us LOL by goin tit over arse and Polecat red us a luverly poem bout some bloke who wanted to join Perth Hash but kept jumpin the tucker queue.

The circle had more down downs than a nite at a campcamp. It went on so bluddy long the  hot curry lost  its mojo and turned into a mild curry. And bluddy good it woz 2. No wunda the poor bastards in Laos are starving. We 8 their rice supply for next year. Wot wiv Pappa Dons, chutney mango, sour cream stuff and aubergine mash Deeply Boring is goin for food tart of the year. Thanks for burnin shit out of the pots.   Wot appened to them diffusers we had?

As you’d expect from 2 experienced Hashmen it woz a well set run and very deserving of Run of the Week honours.

2388 JAAPIE our leader and GDAD

2388 Monday, 2nd November 2015

Jaapie and Grandad at Bruce Lee Oval, Beaconsfield.

Runners started arriving early at Bruce Lee oval greeted by the sight of much rubbish on the edges of the oval’s parking area of this salubrious neighbourhood, but soon more than 40  runners were present as well as a heavy police presence (did somebody tip them off?)

The run started well with walkers going through false trails to keep up with runners. Canine-o-phobe, Mole, was seen walking up to the entrance to Booyeembara Park, on trail by mistake, until he spied Muddy and an opportunity to chastise him with “ger-outa-the-way!!” which spurred him on into a nice bush path through the park, with Muddy in hot pursuit, none the worse wear. On up the hill through bush, Lasagne was chatting as usual but ran at least half the way up to the golf links. A sharp U-turn took runners through an unofficial path alongside the links and up to a summit with a great view looking west into the sunset over Fremantle. This was followed by a treacherously steep decline during which Jack Russell almost became vertically challenged while distracted by a pretty lady passing by. We ran past a skate park next to Perth Security Services (seems to be a lot of that in this area!) past a power station then west along Steven Street. Several checks and false trails later, we turned south past Jehovah Witness “Kingdom Hall – Almost heaven”, West Virginia, mountain mama, Shenandoa River, etc., finally back to Bruce Lee Oval, which used to be a camp for Japanese Australian internees during WW2, and then Home at the car park on the south side of this well-used but rather “rubbishy” recreational area.

During drinks before the circle, I was informed that the young Debbie, lives just across the road but failed to show, which raises the question of what, exactly, was hot enough to distract her? Informal discussion continued about Tripple-J not being strictly on trail (I can actually refute this as I was walking home with him, and he refused to take a short cut with information from my GPS). But it was reliably established that Mole was sometimes on trail by mistake. Sir Knob reputedly spied a wallaby or Joey in someone’s yard and got a hard on for unknown reasons.

Fags put on a carton of beer to celebrate turning 71 and while still being compus mentus. Gumby serenaded us with more than one dirty ditty, which was rudely interrupted by a boring hasher concerned about “circle time”, but which did not deter Gumby from encouraging all present to allow their “bollocks” to “dangle in the dust”, again, for reasons unknown. Boner then did the “Hash Got Talent” with hippy hair and guitar, and a blues “song” with refrain: “Bad to the Boner…” something. Then a local family including Mum, Dad and babes in arms turned up, no doubt attracted by Boner’s blues lament, and thinking they were attending an anti-fracking demo, and baby’s cries upstaged Seagull’s joke (something or somebody always does – poor Seagull!)…but they didn’t stay long…when the language turned “blue” Mum had had enough…thinking this was pretty bad show for a “Greenies Gathering”!

Nanny took the floor to appraise hares and run, making much of the flashing lights special effects and called for volunteers to check out potential RBT’s before the rest of us attempted to turn home with beer-bated breath. Again, Debbie got a mention as the suggested reason why the constabulary’s presence was so profound, on this particular night.

Mumbles was called into the circle on account of the All Blacks rugby world cup wrap-up, shamelessly waving his fern decorated All Black cap, and baying to the hounds in his feeble falsetto. Nanny conceded defeat regarding their bet on the rugby final and presented Mumbles with the agreed bottle of Drambuie (the size of said bottle was never defined so poor Mumbles had to make do with a miniature!!)

Nanny closed his run assessment with a comment about Haggis being seen almost leading the pack at one stage, which resulted in speculation that he might be on drugs. And to add further insult, Gumby suggested that if it wasn’t for his mother he would be a spot of cum, which led Gumby into another tuneful refrain, which, sadly his brother hashers had no time for, as they then smelt food…

The run was scored a low 6.7, which this author thinks a bit unfair, but undeterred, Gumby and Bush Ranger continued to sing a 7 day hash happy song while the rest of us lined up for grub, which turned out to be very good (a Jaapie concoction), even though only soup and bread.

2387 FAGS and CAPITAIN at COMO

Run 2386 Fags & Captain’s “Back to the Future” in Como

The location for this extravaganza was Grayden Reseve, the scene of Kilkenny’s demonstration of parking skills and many other runs which typically take the pack in a loop around Collier Park Golf Course. Not for these two cunning time travellers!

There was no sign of the DeLorean powered by Mr Fusion Home Energy but Fags was there playing the part of “Doc” Emmett Brown while his assistant Captain fitted nicely into the part of Marty McFly. These two hashmen got together as partners in crime in setting runs somewhere in the late 70’s or early 80’s and they are still doing it in 2015 hence the references to time travel. Unfortunately time has not treated them as kindly as Doc and Marty when they ventured into 2015 complete with its flat screen TV’s, video phones and hovering skateboards. These two veterans still make up a formidable team and their runs display cunning tricks that keep the pack guessing.

The runners who dared to take on this pair set off on time, some of them resplendent in their new customised sleeveless ensembles. The trail started in its customary direction alongside the golf course but when everyone expected it to continue around the golf course towards Bentley, these two had the pack lost in the maze of Karawarra. Then it snaked westwards towards Canning Highway before heading north again around Penrhos College and home.

Phantom meanwhile had herded his walking pack well and they arrived home bang on 50 minutes after starting out only to be beaten home by those compulsive short cutters, Mole and FT. The Circle got underway with Seagull handing out the usual down downs for birthdays etc. Thanks to Chunda and Sir Knob for their beers.

Haggis is back! Phantom read out how Chunda got his name somewhere in Asia and Chunda obliged with a practical demonstration. Mumbles alias Ritchie McCaw was also called up for something to do with rugby and the rest of the night is lost in the mists of time.

Food was Fags’ cordon bleu speciality of baked beans with Italian sausage and bacon. He has obviously not heard about the carcinogenic properties of processed meats during his absence in a worm hole. But it was good comfort food and there was not a lot left so well done!
