And so it came to pass,
God (or insert your own deity) looked down on the earth and he saw Perth Hash and he was happy. The weather looked foul, the run was from somewhere we had been 20 times in recent history, but God knew Gnnochi and Lasagna would not let the Hash down with another boring run set by wankers (insert walkers if you wish). This would be a memorable run for many reasons……… which were yet to be disclosed to Hashmen.
Six o’clock and the pack set off in a south-westerly direction with eager anticipation of the oh-too familiar loop. What happened……. They’ve changed the loop, there’s an extra false trail, a laneway we hadn’t been up before even though we had been through this same loop many times already. No it wasn’t Ground Hog day! Once again the Hares showed their true colours by heading off in a new direction and keeping the pack guessing “where to next”. Over Delawney St, through Balcatta Junction (at least the FRBs did), then up to the check opposite Bunnings which seemed to fracture the pack a bit. Not only were the runners effected at this check, even the walkers had their own problems. Dick Tracey had a feeling of foreboding just before Cocktail tripped to the ground. The most able of the walkers (Croaka ) was sent on a dash to retrieve a vehicle to bring Cocktail back to the bucket. Perhaps its time for the Walkers to carry at least one mobile phone with the ambulance ph number stored ! Just a thought, you guys are really slowing down! Runners are tuff and can take care of themselves! The run continued through the back of the industrial estate off W Balcatta Rd, then back through the underpass of Erindale Rd, and winding through the old Odin Drive In before returning to the bucket. Just on 55 minutes and 6 ½ kilometres. Another good run.
After some delay making sure Cocktail had been picked up and the cheese, olives and biscuits consumed out came the chips. The pack was temporarily satisfied. Bring on the On Sec. Another moment of glory for the Committee as the pack came to the realisation this committee had it together……… even down to giving out the required Down Downs to Kilkenny and Colonel (The new Brownlow Hash medalist for 2011). Out came the food and now the pack was really happy.
And God continued on with plans for the next Hash event
