Hopefully with the dry weather we have been experiencing over the past few weeks some of the water crossings will have dried out!

There are a lot of ants so long socks are recommended as well as lots of insect repellent. Wearing gaiters maybe useful if you are front running and suspect there may be snakes.

Dog owners take note:

About Success Hill

Success Hill is a very important site to Whadjuk Noongars. Noongars believe the Waugal is present at the section where Bennett Brook enters the Swan River below Success Hill. It is also believed that Success Hill was an important meeting place for Noongars, serving as a great vantage point looking up and down the river. The area is also known for camping, fishing and hunting. Success Hill is a closed registered Aboriginal site listed as ceremonial and mythological.

In 1831, Guilford residents began to use the fresh water supply and later, in 1960, Success Hill became a sand pit for construction work.

Today Success Hill Reserve offers both open grasses areas and urban bushland areas. The location is also a popular fishing spot. Facilities at the reserve include, toilets, a children’s playground, barbecues and picnic facilities.

This site is managed by the City of Bassendean where you can find more information.
